This course will cover lots of different skills in horticulture and will help you understand the basics of horticulture. If you would like to work in horticulture or agriculture, this course would be great for you.

WHERE IS THE COURSE GOING TO BE?
This course will be run at the Trade Training Centre in Bridgewater. We will also visit a number of places around Hobart to see how they use horticulture in their businesses.
CAN I STUDY MORE AFTER THIS COURSE?
If you successfully finish this course, you could go on to study Certificate 3 in Horticulture or other similar courses.
HOW LONG DOES THE COURSE RUN?
2 days a week for one year. The course will start May the 30th and will go for a year. It will run on Mondays and Fridays each week, starting at 9:00 and finishing at 3:00pm. There are no classes sessions during school holidays or on public holidays.

Our AHC20410 Certificate 2 in Horticulture trains you in a wide variety of horticulture skills. It covers basic skills as well as a range of specialist skills in horticulture and covers topics such Plant identification, Basic botany skills, propagation of plants, soils and growing media, pruning principles and practices, pest and disease management, indoor plant management, container and nursery production, landscape and garden management and machinery and equipment. Whether you are a keen gardener or a dedicated horticulturist, the course will help you learn a wide range of horticultural skills.
Who is our Certificate II in Horticulture course for?
This course is for any one that wants to learn a lot more about gardening, wants to become a horticulturist and is entering the profession for the first time or looking to start a business of their own in the horticulture industry. There are no pre-requisites for this course aside from a strong interest and ambition to do well in the course. All students applying for our horticulture courses are required to undergo an interview process.
What are the assessments in the course?
Each of the 15 units in our Certificate II in Horticulture includes a range of assessments such as quizzes, observations conducted by an assessor, take home assignments and other forms of assessment. We will provide you with the information about the assessment at the commencement of the course.
